We need your help!
We are running our current Baby Café sessions on a combination of reserves and donations and we are in danger of closing altogether. We are in the running for money from the Aviva Community Fund. Please VOTE and SHARE this link before 18 November.
Dear Baby Cafe Community
We have now heard from Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group that - not unexpectedly - they are unable to provide any funding for Baby Café.
Our main source of funding is now our Local Giving campaign, which can be found here: https://localgiving.org/charity/obcg/ Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has already donated, especially in the last few days. Thank you also to the dedicated team of fundraisers who have been working really hard to raise money for us. (If you would like to help, Charlotte would love to hear from you).
In order to make the best use of our limited resources, ***we will reduce our service to three (from the current five) Baby Cafés from Christmas***. This will coincide with the loss of several of our current venues, as Children's Centres close. We will let you know as soon as possible which sessions will continue.
On a more positive note, we have received a grant from Oxford Community Foundation which will enable us to restart a monthly antenatal session from January. This will be linked with one of our remaining Baby Café sessions, to enable an easy follow-through from antenatal to regular Baby Café. Again, we will let you know the details as soon as they are finalised.
We are really grateful to all our health professional and lay breastfeeding supporter colleagues who continue to work with us to provide a strong network of care for families. The implementation of UNICEF Baby Friendly standards across the Health Visiting and midwifery services means that, even in these difficult times, we continue to be optimistic that more families will be able to feed their babies as they wish to.
We would especially like to record our gratitude to all the Children's Centre managers and staff who have been such kind and supportive colleagues during the past ten years. It has been a wonderful service to work in, and we know that many families will suffer from its closure.
We remain committed to providing an excellent service for local families, for as long as we are able to do so.
Please share this as widely as possible, and encourage those who have used our service to "pay it forward" by making a donation so that we can continue to support other families.
